Baltic Control® is appointed by the Iraqi Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) to oversee the verification of product conformity under the ICIGI program. This initiative, started in August 2024, aims to ensure that products imported into Iraq meet the country’s stringent standards.

Key objectives:

  1. Consumer and environment protection.
  2. Conformity assurance.
  3. Efficient customs clearance: Facilitating faster release of goods at Iraqi borders.

Products covered:

  • Toys: Childrens toys, wax crayons, water colours and modeling wax.
  • Electrical and electronic products.
  • Food products.
  • Cosmetics, personal hygiene products and cleaning agents.
  • Household hardware and kitchenware.
  • Chemicals.
  • Textiles and footwear.
  • Household burning fuel appliances.

  • Other products mentioned in the product list of ICIGI Programme.

Processing of documents:

Exporters must submit a verification request via Baltic Control®, including necessary documents such as:

  • Invoice/proforma invoice, packing lists, name and contact info. of the exporter and importer.
  • Conformity documents or test reports that comply with Iraqi standards.
  • Certificates related to the management of quality / safety system.
  • Information related to the location and provisional date for the performance of physical inspection of goods before shipment.

Baltic Control® Verification process:

  1. Baltic Control® reviews the information and the documents provided.
  2. Baltic Control® contacts the customers to coordinate with them regarding physical inspection. If necessary, samples are taken, and laboratory testing/analysis is carried out in accredited labs.

Verification will be performed at destination by a Baltic Control®  team when the goods reach the Iraqi border and the entry points. Visual inspection of the conditions of the shipment and goods packages whenever Iraqi Customs open a consignment.
